My BFA Thesis, Unconventional Me, is my experience as a non-traditional student. These works reflect my experiences as an Indigenous scholar earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and my current experiences as a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts Student.
My photographs demonstrate narratives of inaccurate stereotypes of age biases. Higher education institutions rarely include age in their diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) departments, and it is generally sociably acceptable to discriminate against mature people in subtle and not so subtle ways.
My beaded wearable art expresses the positive results of earning two undergraduate degrees at two different universities. I found my voice, my freedom, and my survival skills.
